What are Branched Chain Amino Acids? The branched-chain amino acids BCAA = branched chain amino acids) have got their name from their branched chain molecular structure. These are the essential amino acids L-leucine, L-isoleucine and L-valine. Since the daily requirement of L-leucine is twice as high compared to the other two BCAAs, the BCAA tablets from MEGAMAX contain the branched chain amino acids L-leucine, L-isoleucine and L-valine in a ratio of 2:1:1. They are taken by both strength athletes and endurance athletes, so they are suitable for every athlete. What is special about BCAA? BCAAs cannot be converted in the liver but migrate with the blood stream to the muscle, where they are metabolised. The muscles contain up to 35% BCAA. They are therefore an important building material in the context of muscle building. In extreme situations, long lasting training sessions or long-term loads such as marathon, triathlon, cycling races, etc., the energy generation from amino acids can be up to 10%. If there are not enough branched chain amino acids in the blood, muscles are broken down to stabilise blood sugar levels via a biochemical detour. Catabolism occurs. Endurance athletes take the BCAA before starting their training or competition to largely avoid muscle loss during exercise.
