How do you select the appropriate size of a countertop support bracket?
Begin by accurately measuring the depth of the countertop. This measurement should be taken from the front edge to the back edge of the surface.
Then subtract 2- 4 inches from the measured depth. The reason for this subtraction is that the outer 2- 4 inches of the countertop is typically an area where the support bracket doesn't need to extend to for optimal stability. For instance, if your measured countertop depth is 16 inches, subtracting 4 inches gives you a 12 - inch shelf bracket.
The shelf brackets sized according to this calculation method can provide adequate support without extending too far and ensure a proper fit for the countertop or shelf structure.
