LET ME BE FRANK— Most of the augers on the market today is low quality, standard issue wholesale Chinese imports made to sale at prices not much lower then these spec pieces offered by BrentwooD. BrentwooD Scotch-eyed Augers Are made to exacting specifications and quality-tested to meet those demands.
True, high carbon forged with metals to provide the toughness needed in such a tool is mandatory. Not only are the specifications far above the standard imported auger, but the weld is far superior to the majority of those you will find on the market.
Notice that BrentwooD augers are black, not all shiny chrome colored? There is a reason. If a tool has been tempered to obtain the maximum strength for the metal, this will eliminate the shiny silver look due to the heat process. The metal that has been specially treated this way is not presentable due to coloration after the treatment, therefore, the black oxidation covers this discoloration and also provides a protective quality for the tool.
BrentwooD requires the black oxidative treatment to the metal after the extra step of providing that hardening process which adds approximately 38% higher strengthening to our augers not found in many of these tools on the market.

1. TAPERED AUGER HEAD: Has a 1” diameter hole that is tapered on one end to a sharpened edge so that you can make wooden pegs by using a log or mallet to hammer/drill the Auger Head into logs and sticks.
