Blue Hills Honey-Leatherwood Honey 500g
Product description
Blue Hills Honey offers a unique honey that is native to Tasmania and comes from the pristine heart of the Tarkine wilderness. This remote and unspoiled area is surrounded by some of the purest air and water on the planet. We are the exclusive beekeeping operation granted access to this region, a privilege extended to only 20 individuals annually, and half of them are part of the Blue Hills family.
Tasmania is famous for its exceptionally clean environment and its extensive wilderness heritage areas. The air and water here are renowned for their purity, benefiting from pollution-free winds that travel thousands of kilometers across the vast, uninhabited Southern Ocean before reaching Tasmania's shores.

How do we reliquefy the honey?
- Place the jar in a warm oven (less than 45°C) until liquid. This can take up to 2 hours.
- Place the jar in a pot of warm water (loose lid) on the stove (again less than 45°C) until liquid.
- Honey in the candy form isa favourite for the beekeepers themselves to eat.
When remelting your honey please remember to minimise the exposure to the heat source.
Are there any impurities in your honey and what are the specs?
During the extraction process there are not a lot of impurities. The natural beeswax is removed by a wax centrifuge. From here the honey is coarse filtered (1000micron) andthen the raw honey settles in a closed vat overnight. We then place the raw honey in the 300kg drums for storage. The honey is only harvested in Tasmania in the months of January, February and March. When required we melt the honey (always below 45°C). The honey then goes through a 300 micron filter to a hold-ing vat for packing. This is regarded as a coarse filtering and you will still see the occasional propolis spec in thehoney. To filter finer would remove the natural pollen and we feel change the flavour and structure of the honey(not a natural honey).
Note: Jar of each variety , plastic spoons (separate spoon for each tasting and not wooden as itchanges the taste of the honey), disposal bin for used spoons, napkins (for client), surfaceantiseptic for bench and demonstrators hands as there are usually honey spills.
