La ampicilina se usa para tratar determinadas infecciones que son ocasionadas por una bacteria como la meningitis (infección de las membranas que rodean el cerebro y la columna vertebral); e infecciones de la garganta, senos nasales, pulmones, órganos reproductivos, tracto urinario y tracto gastrointestinal.
Cómo tomar y guardar ampicilina
- Debe tomar ampicilina con el estómago vacío, 1 hora antes o 2 horas después de las comidas.
- Agite bien la suspensión líquida antes de tomarla. Utilice un dosificador o jeringa oral para medir su dosis y estar seguro de tomar la cantidad correcta.
- Guarde la suspensión líquida en el refrigerador.
- Guarde las cápsulas a temperatura ambiente en un lugar seco.
- Deseche la suspensión líquida luego de 14 días o de acuerdo a la fecha de vencimiento que indica la etiqueta.

RESTRICCIONES DE USO DURANTE EL EMBARAZO Y LA LACTANCIA:
Categoría de uso durante el embarazo, B: En los estudios de reproducción en animales no se revelaron evidencias de alteraciones sobre la fertilidad, o daño al feto debidos a la penicilina. Sin embargo, no existen estudios adecuados y bien controlados en mujeres embarazadas.
Debido a que los estudios de reproducción animal no siempre permiten predecir la respuesta humana, la penicilina se deberá usar en el embarazo sólo cuando sea claramente necesario.
Los antibióticos de la clase de AMPICILINA se excretan por la leche materna. El uso de AMPICILINA en madres lactando puede conducir a la sensibilización del infante; por tanto, se deberá decidir si la madre interrumpe la lactancia, o bien, el uso de AMPICILINA, considerando la importancia del medicamento para la madre.
REACCIONES SECUNDARIAS Y ADVERSAS:
Como con otras penicilinas, se puede esperar que las reacciones adversas se limiten esencialmente a fenómenos de sensibilidad.
Pueden ocurrir, de preferencia, en individuos en los que previamente se ha demostrado hipersensibilidad a las penicilinas, y en aquéllos con antecedentes de alergia, asma, fiebre del heno o urticaria. Se han reportado las siguientes reacciones secundarias como asociadas al uso de AMPICILINA.
Gastrointestinales: Glositis, estomatitis, náusea, vómito, enterocolitis, colitis seudomembranosa y diarrea. Estas reacciones habitualmente se asocian con las dosis orales del medicamento.
Reacciones de hipersensibilidad: Con mucha frecuencia se ha reportado erupción cutánea eritematosa, medianamente prurítica y maculopapular. La erupción que, por lo general, no se desarrolla dentro de la primera semana de terapia, puede llegar a cubrir el cuerpo entero, plantas de los pies, palmas de las manos y la mucosa bucal. Habitualmente, la erupción desaparece en un periodo de tres a siete días.
Otras reacciones de hipersensibilidad reportadas son: Erupción cutánea, prurito, urticaria, eritema multiforme, y casos ocasionales de dermatitis exfoliativa. La anafilaxia es la reacción más grave que se puede experimentar, y se le ha asociado con la dosis por vía parenteral del medicamento.
Nota: La urticaria, otros tipos de erupción cutánea y las reacciones parecidas a la enfermedad del suero, se pueden controlar con agentes antihistamínicos y, en caso necesario, emplear corticosteroides sistémicos.
Cada vez que ocurren estas reacciones se debe suspender AMPICILINA, a menos que, y en opinión del médico, la enfermedad tratada ponga en peligro la vida del paciente, y que solamente puede ser tratada con AMPICILINA. Las reacciones anafilácticas graves requieren de medidas de urgencia.
Local: Tromboflebitis.
Hígado: Se ha observado un ligero aumento de los valores de la transaminasa glutamicooxalacética sérica (SGOT), pero se desconoce el significado de este descubrimiento.
Sistemas hemático y linfático: Se ha reportado anemia, trombocitopenia, púrpura trombocitopénica, eosinofilia, leucopenia y agranulocitosis durante la terapia con penicilinas.
Estas reacciones son, por lo general, reversibles al suspender el tratamiento, y se atribuyen a fenómenos de hipersensibilidad. Otras reacciones secundarias reportadas con el uso de AMPICILINA son estridor laríngeo y fiebre alta. En algunas ocasiones los pacientes se pueden quejar de dolor en la boca y lengua, como ocurre con cualquier preparación oral de penicilina.
El uso prolongado de antibióticos puede favorecer la proliferación de organismos no susceptibles, incluyendo los hongos. En caso de que ocurra una sobreinfección, se deben tomar las medidas apropiadas. El tratamiento con AMPICILINA no excluye la necesidad de procedimientos quirúrgicos, en particular en infecciones por estafilococos.
INTERACCIONES MEDICAMENTOSAS Y DE OTRO GÉNERO:
Cuando se administran en forma concomitante los siguientes medicamentos, pueden interaccionar con AMPICILINA:
Alopurinol: Puede ocurrir una mayor posibilidad de erupción cutánea, en particular en pacientes hiperuricémicos.
Antibióticos bacteriostáticos: Cloranfenicol, eritromicina, sulfonamidas o las tetraciclinas pueden interferir con el efecto bactericida de las penicilinas. Esto se ha demostrado in vitro; sin embargo, no se ha documentado el significado clínico de esta interacción.
Anticonceptivos orales: Pueden ser menos efectivos y presentar sangrado intermedio.
Probenecid: Puede reducir la secreción tubular renal de AMPICILINA, lo que resulta en mayor nivel sanguíneo y/o toxicidad por AMPICILINA.
PRECAUCIONES EN RELACIÓN CON EFECTOS DE CARCINOGÉNESIS, MUTAGÉNESIS, TERATOGÉNESIS Y SOBRE LA FERTILIDAD:
Hasta el momento, no se han observado indicios de que AMPICILINA tenga acciones carcinogénicas, mutagénicas, teratogénicas, o que cause en alteraciones en la fertilidad. Sin embargo, no se han realizado estudios en animales machos y hembras a largo plazo, para evaluar efectos de carcinogénesis, mutagénesis o alteraciones sobre la fertilidad.
DOSIS Y VÍA DE ADMINISTRACIÓN:
Cuando se decide administrar ampicilina por vía oral (tabletas):
Niños: Hasta los 14 años de edad la dosis recomendada es de 100 a 200 mg/kg de peso dividida en 4 tomas (una cada 6 horas) por un lapso no menor de 7 días.
Adultos: De 500 mg a 1 g por vía oral cada 6 horas por 7 a 10 días dependiendo del tipo de infección y la severidad del cuadro.
Para la administración parenteral.
Adultos que pesan más de 20 kg:
Infecciones genitourinarias o del tracto gastrointestinal, además de gonorrea en hombres y mujeres: La dosis usual es de 500 mg, cuatro veces al día en intervalos iguales (p. ej.: 500 mg cada 6 horas); se pueden requerir dosis mayores para infecciones graves o crónicas.
Todos los pacientes, independientemente de edad y peso:
Se pueden requerir dosis mayores en infecciones graves o crónicas. Aunque AMPICILINA es resistente a la degradación por el ácido gástrico, se deberá administrar por lo menos media hora antes o dos horas después de los alimentos, para garantizar una absorción máxima. El tratamiento debe continuarse durante un mínimo de 48 a 72 horas después de que el paciente se vuelve asintomático, o bien, después de que se haya obtenido evidencia de la erradicación bacteriana. En las infecciones causadas por cepas hemolíticas de estreptococos, se recomienda un tratamiento durante un mínimo de 10 días, para prevenir el riesgo de fiebre reumática o de glomerulonefritis.
En el tratamiento de infecciones urinarias o gastrointestinales crónicas se requieren frecuentes evaluaciones bacteriológicas y clínicas durante el tratamiento, y varios meses después pueden ser necesarios. Las infecciones persistentes pueden requerir del tratamiento durante varias semanas. No se deben usar dosis menores a las indicadas previamente.

Shipping Cost
